High School Students are Stressed






With the Omicron variant of COVID-19 making its way through the United States and the world teachers and school administrators need to rethink and reassess what we have learned about schooling and students.


So read on:

In the NBC Challenge Success Study completed by Dr. Denise Pope via Stanford University and Challenge Success there was a survey completed asking over 1100 high school students about how they are doing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Some Research Results:

1) 43% of Students are sleeping less

2) Less exercises is a problem - they need at least an hour

3) Teacher-student relationships are strained

4) Mental health is a concern - Females feel stress the most

5) Students want teachers to check in with them; students want a connection



Positives: 1) For some kids remote learning works

2) Kids with health issues benefit from remote learning

3) Schools are using data to understand what was really going on with brick and mortar school before the pandemic

4) Teachers have to up-skill

5) It is time to address what is really happening in K-12 education
